PSP Review Course

The next Physical Security Professional (PSP®) Review course is scheduled to run from 5 to 7 May 2014. All ASIS International and Singapore Chapter members are entitled to a discount off the registration fee. Please see the course brochure for full details.

Applying for the PSP® Certification Exam
The PSP® professional qualification is by computer-based examination. Applications to sit the examination, which costs USD300 for ASIS International members and USD450 for non-members, should be made direct to ASIS International via the ASIS website.

The PSP® examination is conducted by ASIS International and is computer-based at a number of Prometric Test Centre in Singapore and globally. Prospective candidates can check their eligibility to sit the examination and register online directly with ASIS International. Further details of the PSP reference materials, examination entry criteria and application form, and Prometric Test Centres can be found on the ASIS website.

The examination fee is not included in the PSP® Review Course package fee, nor are the PSP reference materials – details of which can be found on the ASIS website.

The deadline for submission for the ASIS 8th Asia-Pacific Security Forum & Exhibition has been extended to 9 May 2014.

 

The event will take place in Singapore at the Marina Bay Sands on 7-9 December 2014 and will provide high-quality educational sessions, networking opportunities, and valuable sector updates for security professionals. The multiple track format of ASIS Asia-Pacifc 2014 allows for a self-directed learning environment with sessions from keynote speakers, breakouts, interactive forums, and an exhibition featuring the latest in security
services and technology.

The educational sessions, will focus on current and emerging issues, best practices, and the challenges facing security practitioners and those responsible for security. Given presentations are designed for those of all levels of experience - covering fundamental to intermediate to advanced topics.

Proposals on all security related topics are welcome. Topics of particular interest are:
  • Critical infrastructure protection,
  • Physical security,
  • Cyber security,
  • Supply chain security,
  • Intellectual property,
  • Loss prevention,
  • Hotel security and soft targets protection,
  • Maritime piracy,
  • Terrorism,
  • Executive protection,
  • Internal theft and fraud,
  • Competitive intelligence,
  • Brand protection,
  • Investigations,
  • Due diligence,
  • and global business issues.

The event is expected to gather senior security professionals, corporate executives, consultants and government officials from throughout the Asia-Pacific. The programme will also feature three keynote presentations and a summit for Chief Security Officers (CSOs) organised by the CSO Roundtable of ASIS.

In addition to the educational programme, ASIS Asia-Pacific will feature:
  • Ample networking opportunities during lunches, coffee breaks and receptions, for delegates to discuss the latest challenges, and exchange best practices and ideas.
  • A trade exhibition attracting leading security companies that will present the latest security products and services to delegates in the exhibition area, and the Technology & Solutions Theatre. 

General submission guidelines:
  • Commercial presentations will not be selected (though 20 minutes speaking slots in the exhibition area are available as part of the exhibitor package).
  • ASIS International does not pay per diem, honoraria, or expenses.
  • Presentation slots are 50 minutes including time for Q&A.
  • Proposals must be in English only.
  • Proposals should describe original work.
  • All submissions must be received no later than 9 May 2014.

The full-color app, which features all of the content from the award-winning print magazine plus extras, is available for free download on the iTunes App Store or Google Play. Each month a new issue will be available for download shortly after the publication of the print issue. The March and April issues are now available, and the May issue will be ready soon.

Call for Articles - Security Professional Newsletter

ASIS International (Singapore Chapter) will be publishing security-related articles of interest as part of education and knowledge sharing in our next Chapter Newsletter - Security Professional.

We are seeking articles of interest from all members, which may relate to terrorism, physical security, executive protection, investigations, product counterfeiting, supply chain security, crisis management or business continuity management. Articles may relate to current or emerging issues, best practices or challenges faced by security professionals responsible for the protection of people, property, and information in their organisations.


This will be a valuable platform to share your knowledge with fellow Chapter members. CPP/PSP/PCI board certified members will also be pleased to note that published articles may earn up to 9 CPE credits in recertification.

Your article should be submitted in word document format containing no more than 1,000 words, which can be accompanied with illustrations such as diagram and/or photo.

Submissions close on 31 May 2014, and can be sent to memberservices@asis-singapore.org.sg. I encourage all members to contribute actively towards "A more connected and learned Chapter".
