Dear ASIS International and Singapore Chapter Members,

I am pleased to share with you on some updates in February:

1) Q1 Networking Dinner and CNY Celebration
Over 50 International and Singapore Chapter members attended the event at Food R’Us on 20 Feb. In addition, there were invited guests from Union of Security Employees (USE), ACFE Singapore Chapter, ISACA Singapore Chapter, (ISC)2 Singapore Chapter and SSAS. The event brought us together after the last event in November. 9 Singapore Chapter members walked away with prizes from the lucky draw.

2) Lecture Series
Last year, we tried out a new educational session – Webinar. As most of ASIS webinars are within U.S. timezone, we screened a recorded webinar followed by interactive discussion. Based on feedback from members, we modified the format into a live presentation/lecture by industry experts and practitioners. To kick-off the series, we have two presentations by Mr. Totti Karpela on ‘Preventing impulsive and predatory acts of violence’ and Mr. David Rule on ‘Technical surveillance counter measures’. The session was well received with attendance of close to 20 members and affiliated associations members.

3) Changes in Management Council
Simon Lim and Mark Chee have decided to step down from the Management Committee. On behalf of the Management Committee, I would like to thank both Simon and Mark for their services to the Chapter. The Management Committee unanimously agreed to co-opt Howard Ho and Michael Chen to fill in the vacancies. Subsequent to the changes, Stefan Shih has assumed the position of Honorary Secretary while Michael Chen assumed the position of Honorary Asst. Secretary.

4) Membership
While we are in the membership renewal period, please do remember to renew your International and Singapore Chapter membership. Although It is optional to be a paid-up Singapore Chapter member, there are many benefits from signing to be one. The benefits include best rates to our own and affiliated association events. Every new/renewing Singapore Chapter member is entitled to an ASIS Singapore Chapter Golf Umbrella. From the latest update, we are now close to 80 paid-up Singapore Chapter members.

5) Upcoming events
a. CPP review course, 25-28 March
b. PSP review course, 23-25 April
Please spread the word around and this would be an excellent opportunity to prepare for CPP and PSP examination. Starting this year, the Chapter is extending the PSP review course to 3 days in order to cover additional areas such as CPTED and BCM. There will be other events such as Site Visit and Lecture Series to be announced in due course.

6) Secretariat services
The Management Committee has engaged CEMS to provide secretariat services starting 1 March. Members can still contact us via MemberServices@asis-singapore.org.sg and soon via telephone.

Regards,
Leonard Ong, CPP
Honorary Chairman
