Dear Esteemed Members,

As the 2013-2014 Management Committee term draws to an end, I am pleased to share updates since my last message in August.

1. Security Industry Conference 2014
The conference took place on 2729 August with over 400 registrations received. The expanded program to 3 days and meticulous selection of both international & local speakers had attracted great interest this year. The Chapter’s role in co-organising the conference has shown excellent results. The conference was supported by Workforce Development Authority of Singapore (WDA).

2. Site Visit to Sentosa Joint Command Centre
In 2014, the Chapter organized 4 site visits. Following the visit to SATS Catering Centre 1 in July, members visited the Sentosa Joint Command Centre. The site visit was over-subscribed, and attendees had the rare opportunity to learn about security management of Sentosa island.

3. Q3 Networking Dinner
Over 50 members and guests attended the dinner. Steve Surfaro, Chairman of the Physical Security Council, presented at the event and shared his insights around the future of surveillance. Lucky members walked away with vouchers and ASIS International’s CD containing Standards and other publications.

4. Women in Security
The initiative is gaining momentum. With the self-defense workshop conducted successfully, more events are being planned specially for women in security. I am pleased to note that Ms. Yong Hwee-Fong has been featured in the latest ASIS Dynamics (Pg. 14) for her role in leading WiS in the Singapore Chapter.

5. PCB Award
I am pleased to announce that Mr. James Toh, CPP and myself have been recognized as Professional Certification Board (PCB) Regional Award Winners.  The PCB Award is given to individuals who have played a significant role in advocating ASIS International’s certification and education programs.

6. Triple Certification
ASIS International recognizes individuals who have achieved all three certifications namely CPP, PCI, and PSP.  Please join me to congratulate Mr. Stefan Shih, CPP, PCI, PSP.  He is the first in Singapore who has attained all three certifications. Mr. Shih is serving as the Chapter’s Honorary Secretary in the current term.

7. Renewal
As the current Management Committee term ends soon, members will elect 12 Management Committee members for the 2015-2016 term. As in the previous years, I encourage and fully support renewal of ideas and leadership. If you have the passion to serve and are eligible to be nominated, I encourage you to step up.
